What We Believe

Core Beliefs

The following are the core beliefs of Elevate Church - based on the foundational truths taught in the bible.  All of our teaching and ministry is rooted in and flows out of these biblical doctrines.

God

God is the Creator and Ruler of the universe. He has eternally existed in three persons: the Father, the Son and the Holy Spirit. These three are coequal and are one God. Genesis 1:1; Genesis 1:26-27; Genesis 3:22; Psalm 90:2; Matthew 28:19; 1 Peter 1:2; 2 Corinthians 13:14

Jesus

Jesus Christ is the Son of God. He is coequal with the Father and Holy Spirit. Jesus lived a sinless human life and offered Himself as the perfect sacrifice for the sins of all people by dying on a cross. He arose from the dead after three days to demonstrate His power over sin and death. He ascended to Heaven and will return again someday to earth to reign as King.
Matthew 1:22-23; Isaiah 9:6; John 1:1-5, John 14:10-30; Hebrews 4:14-15; 1 Corinthians 15:3-4; Romans 1:3-4; Acts 1:9-11; 1 Timothy 6:14-15; Titus 2:13

The Holy Spirit

Given at Pentecost, the baptism in the Holy Spirit is the promise of the Father. He was sent by Jesus after His ascension to empower the Church to preach the gospel throughout the whole earth.
Joel 2:28-29; Matt. 3:11; Mark 16:17; Acts 1:5; Acts 2:1-4; Acts 2:17; Acts 2:38-39; Acts 8:14-17; Acts 10:38; Acts 10:44-47; Acts 11:15-17; Acts 19:1-6

The Gifts of the Holy Spirit

The Holy Spirit is manifested through a variety of spiritual gifts to build and sanctify the church, demonstrate the validity of the resurrection and to confirm the power of the gospel. The lists of these gifts in the Bible are not necessarily exhaustive and the gifts may occur in various combinations. All believers are commanded to earnestly seek the manifestation of the gifts in their lives. These gifts always operate in harmony with the Scriptures and should never be used in violation of Biblical parameters.
Rom. 1:11; Rom 12:4-8; 1 Cor. 12:1-31; 1 Cor. 14:1-40; Eph. 4:16; 1 Tim. 4:14; 2 Tim. 1:5-16; Heb. 2:4; 1 Pet. 4:10

The  Bible

The Bible is God's Word to us. It was written by human authors under the supernatural guidance of the Holy Spirit. It is the supreme source of truth for Christian beliefs about living. Because it is inspired by God, it is truth without error. 2 Timothy 3:16; 2 Timothy 1:13; 2 Peter 1:20-21; Psalm 119:105; Psalm 119:160; Psalm 12:6; Proverbs 30:5

Humanity

People are made in the spiritual image of God, to be like Him in character. People are the supreme object of God's creation. Although every person has tremendous potential for good, all of us are marred by an attitude of disobedience toward God called "sin" and need God's salvation. Sin separates us from God and causes many problems in our life.
Genesis 1:27; Psalm 8:3-6; Isaiah 53:6a; Romans 3:23; Isaiah 59:1-2

Salvation

Salvation is God's free gift to us, but we must accept it. We can never make up for our sin by self-improvement or good works. Only by trusting in Jesus Christ as God's offer of forgiveness can anyone be saved from sin's penalty. When we turn from our self-ruled lives and turn to Jesus in faith we are saved. Eternal life begins the moment one receives Jesus Christ into his life by faith.
Romans 6:23; Ephesians 2:8-9; John 14:6; John 1:2; Titus 3:5; Galatians 3:26; Romans 5:1; Romans 10:9-10

Eternity

We were created to exist forever. We will either exist eternally separated from God by sin or eternally with God through forgiveness and salvation. Heaven and hell are real places of eternal existence.
 John 3:16; John 14:17; Romans 6:23; Romans 8:17-18; Revelation 20:15; 1 Corinthians 2:7-9
